2023 Trip to Nepal

25 Explorers from Bristol Cabot District travelled to Nepal in October 2023, along with 10 leaders. They spent months in preparation learning about Nepal – its geography, history, culture and people; the challenges facing one of the poorest nations on Earth; and how Scouting is helping to educate and develop young people with skills to make real differences in their local communities.

The Explorers helped plan and run the 4th Jungle Jamboree, the highlight of the trip. Some 350 Nepalese Scouts and their leaders joined us in Meghauli, in a beautiful setting alongside the Chitwan National Park, for this fun-packed activity camp.

The Explorers and their parents raised more than £15,000 to cover the costs of the Jungle Jamboree – site preparation, accommodation, toilet and shower facilities, catering, security and activity equipment.

During the trip, the Explorers joined in a project with the University of the West of England (UWE) and Kathmandu Medical College to conduct road safety research with the Nepalese Scouts and show the Scouts how to respond to road accidents. This was part of a wide-ranging multi-year project UWE is undertaking with the government in Nepal.

Dear Rob

What an absolutely brilliant outcome from your trip – I am amazed and delighted to hear such an outcome resulted! The scouts should feel really proud of what they have achieved.

A HUGE thank you 🙏 for giving them THE most incredible and memorable Nepal adventure!

Our daughter, having slept well on the journey, was keen to ‘explode’ her rucksack all over the lounge, already telling brief stories connected to the various items which came out!!

The experiences they have had will stay with them and be really life affirming & changing!

THANK YOU!
